Having had our full of museums et al and busy cities we decided to take a break and visit the country town of Worhsdorf reached by S bahn and then a quaint old tram through the forest and 2 or 3 villages before ending up at Wornsdorf which is on the river system out of Berlin. Really delightful place with beautiful housing overlooking either the canal or the lake.We had fun watching a large barge full of gravel negotiating the lock with only inches to spare each side and then went for tea and a snack at one of the many cafes nearby.Wandered back to our hostel and then decided to treat ourselves to dinner at the local Italian restaurant great meal and the waiters were all in good Italian form making a great atmosphere too.
Today we went to Potsdam and walked round the Sanssouci gardens in which there are 11 palaces or classic buildings we spent 5 hours
walking around and didn't enter 1 house. It is said that the gardens are the best part and I agree they are outstanding with both formal walkways and lovely wooded landscapes well managed , and all for free yes anyone can go to the gardens to walk , with or without dog, run, bike or just sit.Had a great day and finished it off a meal at a Bierhouse on our way home .pics on my facebook.
